This is College Physics Answers with Shaun Dychko. We want to know what power the eye has when viewing an object that's 3.00 meters away and we know the image distance is the distance between the lens and the retina and that's 2.00 centimeters for most people so that's 2.00 times 10 to the minus 2 meters and the power is the reciprocal of the object distance plus the reciprocal of the image distance added together. So we have 1 over 3.00 meters plus 1 over 2.00 times 10 to the minus 2 meters and that is 50.3 diopters is the power.
