This is College Physics Answers with Shaun Dychko. We are going to determine the baryon number, charge, strangeness, charm and bottomness of the J/Ψ particle and then do the same for the Υ particle knowing the constituent quarks for each of these particles. So the J/Ψ particle has a charm matched with a charm anti-quark so the total baryon number is positive of a third for the charm quark and then negative of a third for the charm anti-quark for a total of 0. As for the charge, the charm quark has a positive two-thirds charge whereas the charm anti-quark has a negative two-thirds charge for a total of 0; neither of these quarks have any strangeness, bottomness or topness so those totals are 0 and whereas the charm in the regular charm quark is positive 1 and we have a negative 1 charm in the charm anti-quark for a total of 0. And for the upsilon particle, the bottom quark has a baryon number of positive of a third and the bottom anti-quark has a baryon number of negative of a third for a total of 0 the charge is negative of a third for the bottom regular matter quark... maybe I should write negative a third here to correspond with the first quark and then add to that positive one-third charge for the bottom anti-quark and that total charge is going to be zero. There's no strangeness, charmness or topness for either of these bottom quarks and so that total is 0 and for the bottomness, we have negative a third for the regular matter bottom-quark and positive a third for the bottom anti-quark and that total is 0.
